From the recording The Keys We Left Behind

Ran Blake introduced me to an old friend of his while we were on tour in Paris in 1999. Miguel Ballé had just written a second book of his poems (in English) and they inspired me to set many of them to music...here is the first one I've finally recorded. It features the fantastic vocals of Melissa Errico and Wyeth Tvenge on upright bass - Miguel Ballé also composed the cover art. Enjoy!

Lyrics

Tell me where to find
The keys we left behind
In the house of lies, the blinds
Are closed on vows we never signed
In the house of truth you jest
That you wanted only the best
To live solely hard and fast
To love close to your chest
Oh in the secret hour, sublime
When our bodies mesh and bind
This house of flesh becomes so wild
I could not tell yours from mine
But the house of joy is now mirthless
It lies in ruins amongst lost caress
The jealous angels refused to bless
When they rendered us both speechless
