Mudsole
Mudsole
The whistle of the steamboat, the smell of the river, the ring of the band - authentic down-to-the-muddy-earth sound.
Mudsole is emerging as an extremely energetic and highly charismatic team, finely tuned to cater to an audience's imagination and to bringing out their high spirits. New Orleans Jazz, one of America's original musics, is being rediscovered in modern times. People are finding that vibrant energy and upbeat enthusiasm of "Dixieland" are as irresistible as ever; it never fails to get a smile out of even the most modest of participants.

Mudsole in New Orleans
Mardi Gras Busking 1991
With New Orleans legend Doreen Ketchens!
Making Mud: Dave and his buddies Artie Barbato and Jason Rogers started Mudsole in 1989 busking throughout the city of Boston. Their big break came in 1990 after they drove to New Orleans to play on the streets during Mardi Gras. There they were mentored by local musician, Doreen Ketchens, and her band and were shown on national TV (Entertainment Tonight). That footage was used to land them a gig playing for both of President Clinton's Inaugural Celebrations (opening for the Four Tops and Billy Ray Cyrus)!
After Dave moved to New York, he reconstituted the band to play a fundraiser to aid victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in 2017. Come join the second line!!
